What the timed paper contains
Start Deutsch 1 runs Hören, Lesen and Schreiben back to back in 65 minutes with no break, then Sprechen in a small group. The mock keeps that order and those clocks.
Hören (listening)

Teil 1 (6 questions, played twice): short everyday dialogues, each answered by picking one of three pictures. Teil 2 (4 questions, played once): public announcements, each with one Richtig or Falsch statement. Teil 3 (5 questions, played twice): phone messages and announcements, each with one of three written answers.
Lesen (reading)
25 min · 3 parts · 15 questions
Teil 1 (5 questions): short personal texts such as emails, checked statement by statement as Richtig or Falsch. Teil 2 (5 questions): two small sources side by side, where you choose the one that answers the need. Teil 3 (5 questions): signs and notices on doors and boards, again Richtig or Falsch.
Schreiben (writing)
20 min · 2 parts · 2 tasks
Teil 1: copy five facts from a short text into a form. Teil 2: a message of about 30 words that covers three given points.
Sprechen (speaking)
about 15 min · 3 parts
Teil 1: introduce yourself from keywords, then spell a word and say a number. Teil 2: ask and answer questions built from a theme card and a word card. Teil 3: make a request from a picture card and answer someone else's.
Exam-day facts
- Pass mark: 60 of 100 points. The written paper counts for up to 75 and Sprechen for up to 25, with no separate minimum per section.
- All four parts must be taken. If you miss the pass mark, you retake the whole exam.
- Sprechen is a group exam of about 15 minutes in three Teile.

How to read your result
Your result shows every skill and the combined score out of 100. The exam pass line is 60, with the written and speaking minimums shown separately where the board uses them.
