What the timed paper contains
Goethe A2 opens with reading, not listening: Lesen, then Hören, then Schreiben, about 30 minutes each with no break, followed by Sprechen in pairs. The mock keeps that sequence.
Lesen (reading)

Teil 1 (5 questions): one longer media text with three answer options per question. Teil 2 (5 questions): an information board or store directory, where you decide where each need belongs. Teil 3 (5 questions): a longer personal email or letter with three answer options per question. Teil 4 (5 questions): five people's needs matched to six adverts, with X when no advert fits.
Hören (listening)

Teil 1 (5 questions, played twice): short recordings, each with one of three text options. Teil 2 (5 questions, played once): one longer conversation, with five details matched to pictures. Teil 3 (5 questions, played once): everyday conversations, each with one of three pictures. Teil 4 (5 questions, played twice): one interview, with each statement marked Ja or Nein.
Schreiben (writing)
30 min · 2 parts · 2 tasks
Teil 1: an informal message of about 20 to 30 words, using du. Teil 2: a semi-formal email of about 30 to 40 words, using Sie.
Sprechen (speaking)
about 15 min · 3 parts
Teil 1: ask your partner personal questions from keyword cards and answer theirs. Teil 2: talk about one area of your life from a mind map. Teil 3: agree a shared plan with your partner from two agenda cards.
Exam-day facts
- Pass mark: 60 of 100 points, with at least 45 of the 75 written points and at least 15 of the 25 speaking points. A strong written paper cannot cover a weak Sprechen.
- A2 is one exam with one result. As a rule, a miss means retaking the whole exam.
- Sprechen is a pair exam of about 15 minutes, or about 10 when taken alone.

How to read your result
Your result shows every skill and the combined score out of 100. The exam pass line is 60, with the written and speaking minimums shown separately where the board uses them.
