Goethe B2 vs telc B2
B2 needs the right argument and the right paper
Goethe B2 uses independent module results and a presentation followed by discussion. telc B2 adds Sprachbausteine and keeps Sprechen separate from its written mock composition.
Both papers use B2 on the CEFR scale, where clear detailed language and complex topics matter. The preparation becomes much easier when the board's response types stay visible from the first reading session.
Goethe B2 has five reading parts, four listening parts and two writing tasks. telc B2 has three Lesen parts, two Sprachbausteine parts, three listening parts and one writing task.
The score checks are different. Goethe asks for 60 of 100 in each module, while telc uses the 300-point total with written and oral minimums.
A telc B2 mock covers the written paper only. Practise the separate speaking route before you interpret any written result as evidence for the full exam.
Build the Goethe B2 week around the argument you must make visible. Read a demanding text, outline two writing tasks, and practise a presentation that can move into discussion without repeating every sentence.
Build the telc B2 week around the shared written block. Add the three Lesen parts and two Sprachbausteine parts to the reading and writing plan, then reserve a separate session for the at-home experience, prepared discussion and planning in Sprechen.
When you review a result, keep the 60-of-100 module lines or the telc written and oral minimums in view. The next session should name one repair action, such as a clearer signpost, a faster text scan or a second partner response.
Use one complex topic to compare the papers without mixing them. On the Goethe side, practise the presentation and discussion; on the telc side, practise the written blocks and then ask a partner to challenge your spoken plan.
A B2 study calendar should show argument work and response work separately. Mark whether the problem was understanding the source, structuring the answer, controlling the clock or staying responsive to the other speaker.
A B2 paper choice becomes clearer when you name the repair. Goethe may need a cleaner presentation line or a second writing structure, while telc may need faster language-elements decisions before the separate speaking rehearsal.
Use the same topic only as shared subject matter, not as shared exam practice. The board still determines whether your next session is a timed paper block, a written response or a partner exchange.
Before a B2 booking, explain the paper to another learner without opening the guide. If you cannot say where the writing, language-elements and speaking work sit, the next session should be a format walk-through.
The comparison earns its place when it changes what you do tomorrow. Put one source, one response shape and one partner question on the calendar, then return to the official table before you expand the plan.
A short, repeatable repair gives the comparison more value than another broad summary.
Write down that repair before you close the guide.
Then repeat it twice.

Questions
What people ask before they decide
Which B2 paper has Sprachbausteine?
telc B2 includes two language-elements parts with 20 items, split into 10 multiple-choice and 10 lexical items. Goethe B2 does not add a separate block with that name.
What is Goethe B2 Sprechen?
The paper has a presentation followed by a discussion. Prepare an organised route, then practise responding to another view instead of repeating the presentation.
What happens in telc B2 Sprechen?
Prepare the experience in Teil 1 at home. The 20-minute preparation room is for discussion in Teil 2 and planning in Teil 3, followed by an ungraded one-minute get-acquainted opening and an exchange lasting about 15 minutes in pairs or 25 in trios.
Does telc B2 mock speaking?
The telc mock composition is written only. Sprechen remains a separate graded module and needs its own partner practice.
Which B2 paper is easier?
The papers ask different work, so an easier label is not a reliable fact. Use the board that matches the requirement and the format you can rehearse.
Where are B2 dates and fees?
BookGermanTest carries current dates, fees and centres. Ask the receiving organisation which certificate and recency rule applies.
Does B2 guarantee admission or recognition?
No. B2 is a language-level reference, while admission, employment and recognition decisions belong to the receiving organisation.
